Meterperson-Collector*- Position assures highly accurate
metering by installing, disconnecting, field testing meters and maintaining
records in accordance with NEC policies, recognized industry-wide meter
standards, and state rules and regulations. Position observes and reports any
metering or location information problems/errors and meter tampering, may
assist with meter tampering/vandalism investigations, and ensures billing accuracy
by reading meters accurately and recording readings in a timely manner.
Position enhances safety and system reliability by making himself available
and completing required training needed to assist in the repair of outages
when directed by supervisor, and by remaining highly knowledgeable about
safety and safe practices in the workplace. Must know and utilize proper
radio procedures and ensure professional and adequate communications. Must
have an acceptable driving record, show proof of automobile liability
insurance coverage and be bondable.
Must be capable of operating NEC vehicles and hold a valid Texas Class
A Drivers License.
Must have one year experience working with electric/electronic
circuitry, components and diagrams and have sufficient education or
experience to perform the job duties. Must be able to prepare written reports
as required. Some traveling will be
required. Must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Must be professional in attitude and
appearance. Must have 20-20 vision (or be correctible to) to identify
hazardous conditions on power lines.
Must have good hearing (or be correctible to) in order to clearly hear
and understand instructions or warning shouts. Must be in good general health and in good
physical condition and have sufficient flexibility and range of motion to
lift (minimum of forty [40] lbs), place objects of varying sizes and weights
from floor level to over head heights, and to open and close wire gap
gates. Must be able to walk with no
more than one five minute rest period per hour. ·
Certified Journeyman Lineman*- Must possess
a Class A CDL license and pass driving history check, have completed a formal
certified journeyman lineman apprentice program or must have a minimum of 8
years in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground power
lines and be willing to complete the DOL Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship
Program. Climbing experience is mandatory. All applicants must possess a
high school diploma or GED equivalent, be able to work nights and weekends,
reside within 15 minutes from Robstown office. ·
Apprentice Lineman*- Position requires candidate to obtain a
Class A CDL license within 6 months of hire date and pass driving history
check, enroll and complete the DOL Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship Training
Program. Must be able to train to climb utility poles. All applicants must
possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, be able to work nights and
weekends, reside within 15 minutes from Robstown office. ·
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)*-Due to growth in its
customer base, Nueces Electric Cooperative is expanding its accounting
department to include a CFO. The CFO plans, organizes,
coordinates, directs and controls the financial and accounting functions,
practices, and procedures of the Cooperative to ensure a sound financial
position and achievement of long- and short-term goals. Provide overall
leadership to the purchasing and warehousing functions. Provides complete and
accurate financial and other records so as to safeguard the Cooperative’s
assets, securities, and funds. Provides the CEO, Management Staff, and the
Board of Directors with complete and accurate financial reports, operating
costs, and statistics that will allow them to properly predict trends, determine
planning needs, interpret results, and make effective decisions.
Qualifications include a four year degree with a major in accounting (MBA or
CPA is preferred) and 5 year’s management experience in a progressively
responsible financial or accounting position, preferably with a
consumer-owned utility system. Must be proficient in MS Excel & Word,
GAAP, Uniform System of Accounts, RUS work order/material procedures,
regulatory policies, procedures, and NEC’s other rules, regulations and
approved practices. Qualified applicants must possess excellent oral and written
communication skills, time management and organizational skills, and be a
team player. The candidate selected will be required to successfully
complete the USDA Rural Utility Service’s correspondence accounting course
within the first six months of employment. ·
Groundsman - Must have six
months experience in training as a Groundsman. Must be competent and inspire confidence in
others within the spirit of cooperation and teamwork. Must project a courteous and helpful
attitude toward fellow-workers, members and the general publics. Must have an acceptable driving record and
present proof of automobile liability insurance coverage and be
bondable. Must be capable of operating
all NEC vehicles and machinery and hold a valid Texas Class A Commercial Drivers License. Must have the ability to prepare written
reports as required. Must be able to
read, understand, and comply with RUS specifications and drawings, safety
publications, and lineman's handbook.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Must be professional
in attitude and appearance. Some traveling will be required. * All
