Trees & Power Lines Don’t Mix

Landscaping properly can shade your home in the summer and warm your home in the winter. But look up when you plan your landscape, especially if you are considering the planting of new trees. Be sure any tree you plant will not eventually grow into the power lines. A tree in a power line can provide the path to ground for electricity and become a danger to your family and others. A tree in the lines can also increase the number of the annoying power blinks you experience at your home and in a storm can be blown into or break and fall on the line causing an extended power outage for you and possibly your neighbors. Avoid the danger and inconvenience by ensuring any trees are planted at least 20 feet from the power lines.
