Copper Theft Danger, Awareness and Prevention

Copper theft is a deadly problem because it can kill or injure those stealing it. Law enforcement, scrap dealers and local citizens can help to prevent copper theft by increasing their awareness and reporting theft.

Pole Attachments Are Illegal and Dangerous to Line Workers – DON’T DO IT!

Stop and think before you nail that Open House or Garage Sale sign on a utility pole and then DON’T DO IT! Your actions may cause an accident resulting in an NEC line worker to fall from the pole and be severely injured. This image of a pole literally covered with signs is an extreme example but it only takes one nail, staple or piece of tape to cause a line worker to fall off of a pole. Please don’t attach signs to utility poles. Not only is it dangerous, but it is also illegal.
