Giving Back to Our Communities

Nueces Electric Co-op and our employees are proud to support and play an active, positive role in communities where we live and work. That's more than simply a corporate goal -- that's a way of working and living that employees embrace year after year.

As a not-for-profit organization, NEC is very careful to prudently invest the funds it allocates to support community charities and events. NEC sponsors, donates and supports to over 50 community organizations and events each year. Whether its supporting the fight against cancer or the Shriner’s Hospital, NEC works with a variety of community events and organizations to show its support for our youth, schools, industry, local employment, and to build and improve the quality of life for our employees, members, and the community in general.

Our Members’ Generosity

The members of NEC give generously through Operation Round-Up. Operation Round Up is a program where member electric bills are rounded up to the next dollar. This extra change is put in a fund call Operation Round Up and each month all of the money is donated, on behalf of NEC members, to our charitable foundation, Nueces Charities, Inc. Because of the generous donations of our members, Nueces Charities is able to grant awards of over $100,000 each year to worth charitable organizations in our member communities. Nueces Charities, Inc. is a financial supporter of non-profit charitable organizations whose focus is on improving the quality of life in our communities. Whether targeting improvements in education or tackling the issues of health, hunger, abuse and homelessness, Nueces Charities’ giving is meant to help non-profit organizations address and positively impact community life for NEC members.
