Latest REP List for the NEC Service Area | Existing NEC Member Pilot Welcome Kit | New NEC Member Pilot Welcome Kit
For NEC Customer Choice Pilot Participants Only!
On August 16, 2004, a select group of Nueces Electric Co-op service locations became a part of history as part of the first Texas electric cooperative retail electric choice pilot program. The group includes approximately 230 service addresses. The NEC members who reside in these locations are Pilot Program Participants and we welcome you to the Pilot Program. As participants, these members will be able to choose a retail electric provider (REP)- the company who will generate and supply the electricity they use. These members will continue to have Nueces Electric Cooperative as their delivery service provider (DSP or "wires" company) and will remain NEC members regardless of who they choose as their power supplier.
If you already are an NEC member with existing electric service...
Some pilot participants were NEC members already when the pilot program began. These members can (1) choose a new provider or (2) do nothing and their affiliate provider, Nueces Electric Cooperative Retail Division (NEC RD), will continue to supply their power needs. Please see the Existing NEC Member Pilot Welcome Kit for more information.
If you are a new NEC member who has been told you are in a service location included in the Pilot Program...
New NEC members who move into a pilot program service location MUST choose a power provider before they can receive ANY electric service. Please see the New NEC Member Pilot Welcome Kit for more information.
